Family Hospitality
We have created a driven pheasant and partridge shoot with the emphasis on producing challenging birds and first class hospitality. With my wife’s experience in hospitality we ensure that our guests are well fed and we have worked hard to produce delicious home-cooked meals, snacks and all washed down with fine quality drinks, all served in a warm friendly environment. This extends to the Game keeper and his beating team, whether on shoot days or summer BBQ’s and Clay shoots.
Sustainability
As an Estate and shoot, we are passionate about sustainability. Much of the food, on shoot days, is sourced direct from the Estate and we are working closely with local suppliers (butchers etc) and hoteliers (The Selkirk Arms Hotel) to ensure that as much as possible enters into the local food chain.
Many of the practices employed throughout the Estate (and shoot) are helping us to be more sustainable, whether through better woodland management, hedgerow maintenance or helping to manage the local red squirrel population. We re-use shells from the local fish processing plant (West Coast Sea Products) to improve our woodland paths, whilst providing a rich source of calcium and grit for the poults.
Man’s Best Friend!
We are proud to be dog-friendly and here’s the latest addition to the family - not ready until 2024!!
Accommodation
After a great day of shooting and fresh air, there’s nothing better than to have a warm, comfortable bath and relaxing place to rest and recover and we are delighted to have partnered with The Selkirk Arms Hotel and its owner, Chris Walker, to make the most of your stay. The great bonus is that the front door of the hotels is less than 5 minutes away from the shoot. Whether for single days or back-to-back days, The Selkirk Arms Hotel is an excellent choice to make the most of your visit to St Mary’s Isle Estate and Dunbar Sporting.
